Why I Went Organic (And Never Looked Back)
It started with being very unwell. Back in 1989 I was misdiagnosed with Crohn's disease and the treatment they put me on, steroids, was, honestly, making me feel worse. Bloated, grey, completely unlike myself. I remember thinking, there has to be another way.
A friend pointed me in the direction of a naturopath and he said something very simple: eat a basic organic diet. Fish. Steamed vegetables. Cut out everything processed. It sounded almost too straightforward. But within weeks, I felt different. Within months, I felt like myself again.
What I didn't expect was the ripple effect. Once I started looking at what I was eating, I started looking at everything else. What I was putting on my skin, what I was cleaning my home with, what I was feeding my children. It became a complete awakening. My kids weren't thrilled at first, I'll be honest. Ronnie just pushed a few peas around his plate. But I wasn't going back.
The thing I want people to know is that I didn't do it all at once. You don't have to. Start with one thing. Swap your milk, buy organic carrots, read the back of your moisturiser. Small changes stack up into something enormous over time. That's been my whole journey, really. One small change, then another, then another.
If you're at the beginning of that road, welcome. It's a very good one to be on.
